
Android is an operating system for mobile phones that uses the Java language to develop and write managed code, using a modified version of the Linux kernel. Android operating system enabled phones are the newest gadgets in the market, and are the smartest of the smart-phones that are doing the rounds in the market at present. Google was the pioneer in introducing and developing the Android operating system, which has now become extremely popular. Android Inc. was the name of a software company in Palo Alto, California, that used to develop software for mobile phones. It was taken over by Google, and finally by the Open Handset Alliance, a consortium of forty seven different hardware, software, and telecommunications companies dedicated to providing open standards for all mobile devices.
