Vonage Releases Calling Apps for iPhone and BlackBerry

As the Google Voice Software for the iPhone and BlackBerry continues to be fixated in Apple's review procedure, similar software from another firm has passed with flying colors and amazing feature.

On Monday, the Internet telephony company, Vonage is releasing a mobile phone application for iPhones, iPod Touches and BlackBerry. This is applications is absolutely free for the users to download and it will enable the users to low-priced international calls over the cellular voice and Wi-Fi networks. Once this application is installed, the customers load up their calling accounts by using the credit card. The Call rates may vary for different count rules and regulations. Vonage said it will ultimately release a flat- call rate plan with a recurring subscription charge for regular callers

The Marc Lefar, a chief executive of the Vonage said, "Given the penetration of smartphones and the global increase of phones that can access mobile and home broadband networks, the time is now for a company like Vonage to take advantage of the market";.

Vonage Company's announcement comes on the tops of the questions by federal regulators about the Apple's decision to maintain the Google Voice software from emerging in its App Store. The Google Voice application, that is available for devices powered by Google's Android application and BlackBerry mobile phones, enables the users to make inexpensive international calls and free domestic calls and send free text messages.

Some software's which provide free or cheap Internet calls or messages from the iPhone, such as Skype, will only function over the Wi-Fi networks. The Apple has announced that it had decided to consult with the AT&T network before being approved of the software, which enables self-styled voice over the Internet protocol calls over the data network of the AT&T, bypassing its voice network. Google's Voice software does not function over the Wi-Fi but the software dials a particular Google phone number by using the standard voice network, and later the Google routes the voice call to its destination.

The Vonage Calling software for the iPhone makes voice calls over the Wi-Fi while in the range of a hotspot, however it could also route calls over the standard voice network, said by a senior vice president of the products at the Vonage, Michael Tempora. In the later case, it functions similarly to the Google software. The Vonage application for the BlackBerrys functions only over the standard voice network; whereas the iPod Touch edition functions over the Wi-Fi.

Mr. Tempora said he did not see any cause why Vonage's software for the iPhone will not have been offered a green signal. We have built the software in total accordance with the Apple's rules, he said.

We are not trying to make voice traffic over the data network at this time, Mr. Tempora said. Although we do look forward to the Wi-Fi networks in the United States opening up therefore we can launch messaging and voice applications over 4G and 3G networks. Hope there are several new applications are being to come in near future.
