Types of
Medical Detoxes
We Offer
-
Alcohol Detox
-
At our facility, detoxing from alcohol is traditionally treated with a benzodiazepine taper such as Librium or Valium as well as “comfort medications” that include medications as needed for sleep, nausea/vomiting, and anxiety. The detoxification time frame is dependent upon factors such as other substances of use, length of use, quantity, frequency, and prior detoxification symptom information.
-
Benzodiazepine Detox
-
Benzodiazepines are a class of drugs used to treat anxiety, some seizure disorders, and is present in some sleep medications. Some examples of medications that contain benzodiazepines include, Ativan, Valium, Klonopin, Xanax, and Ambien. Detoxification is traditionally treated with benzodiazepines, either by titrating down on the drug of abuse, or by a Valium taper as well as “comfort medications” that include non-addictive medications as needed for sleep, nausea/vomiting, and anxiety.
-
Opiate Detox
-
Opioids and opiates are a class of drugs with pain-reducing (analgesic) properties. Examples of opioids include Vicodin, Suboxone, Percocet, Oxycodone, Oxycontin, fetanyl, and heroin. Regardless of whether an individual uses pills or heroin, the drug effects are the same. Opioid withdrawal may be addressed with Suboxone (which is a partial opioid agonist with naloxone). Additionally other non-addictive “comfort meds” for sleep, nausea/vomiting, and anxiety may be used. Because of the highly uncomfortable state of detoxification symptoms, many people with dependence are unable to detoxify without being supervised and in a 24-hour setting where they are made comfortable and have no access to opiates.

1-on-1 time speaking to someone who can help guide you through all the mental hurdles, past trauma, and coping skills needed can be a great benefit when you’re recovering from substance abuse disorder. We make sure each of our residents has the ability to engage in discreet and empowering sessions with our professional, on-site therapists.
At AToN Center, we seek to employ evidence-based therapies to help our residents become empowered and gain all the skills they’ll need to start and continue on their recovery journey. CBT will seek to draw attention to a resident’s core beliefs, helping them evaluate on the best way forward.
DBT is all about two fundamental factors: acceptance and change. Our DBT program seeks to reveal to a resident the forces behind their substance abuse problem, and empower them to find new ways ahead.
