Apple iPhone vs. Motorola

Motorola has been coming out with different models that could definitely be a competition to the Apple iPhone. Let us look at a few features of these two phones.

Some of the Motorola models may not be the usual 3G Smartphone that gives it an additional point against the Apple iPhone. It definitely fares better there, starting on an equal ground.

Some of Motorola phones just like the Apple iPhone are touch screen phones, these Motorola models that are touch screen have tactile feedback that the Apple iPhone does not possess.

The face of these Motorola models are a lot busier than the Apple iPhone, these Motorola models have its Spartan set of controls. The Motorola phones have many more controls, which also includes the 5-way track pad where as the Apple iPhone just has its single malfunction button. Both the iPhone and the Motorola have the on and off buttons but most Motorola phones have four other controls as well.

The new models of Motorola possess a new keypad control technology called the ModeShift. This new technology has been added to make it the trademark of their phones just like how the iphone has its trademark malfunction button. The Motorola also boasts of the FM radio tuner that the other Apple iPhones do not possess.

Talking about music, the ModeShift technology feature present in the new models of Motorola helps in transforming the touch keypad or these multiple controls from telephone controls to music player control.

What appeals most in the iphone is that it is the iPod of smart phones, in the sense that it was one of the first few devices that was used for organizing, downloading and most importantly playing music. Although there are many more phones come out for the same purpose, the Apple iPhone still holds its crown, however being twice the price of any Motorola model consisting of the same features. The sound quality in most Motorola phones is not as good as the Apple iPhone. Even though the price of these Motorola phones are just half the price of the Apple iPhone it certainly is not even half as great when it comes to the sound quality.

Going back to discussing the subject of the keypads of both these phones, one of the noticeable differences between the two phones is that some of the models of the Motorola have an actual keyboard that slides out which is not QWERTY and just an ordinary phone pad. While the iPhone on the other hand has a QWERTY keyboard that is touch screen.

Another most prominent difference between the two phones is that while the iPhone is music Smartphone, it also is an internet Smartphone and serves as a personal assistant desktop as well. The Motorola on the other hand is just music Smartphone. The models of the Motorola phone are as good when it comes to grading standards but is in no comparison to the Apple iPhone by any measure, even if it enables Modeshift or no Modeshift.
