Apple iPhone vs. Sony

The hardware system of all Sony cellular phones is without doubt very impressive as it has a 520 MHz Qualcomm chipset compared to the Apple iPhone which is only 667 MHz capabilities although it currently achieves speed of only 500 MHz

Although the Apple iPhone is famous for its 3G connectivity it still lacks competition when it comes to some of the phones of Sony which in terms of high internet access are far ahead, even if both devices had the Wi-Fi connecting capabilities.

Since we are already discussing about the internet access, when users use the internet through the iPhone they will be able to enjoy the Safari browser interface while Samsung users will have to be stuck with the user-unfriendly internet explorer. This is one of the downsides of Sony phones that although they enjoy high internet speed they do not enjoy user-friendly internet explorers.

Some of the models of Sony have a tough competition against the iPhone when it comes to the display. The display of the Sony model is that of 3 inches against that of the iPhone, which is 3.5 inches. The resolution in some of Sony models is as high as 800 X 400 as compared to that of iPhone that is only 320 X 480. But then again the down side for these Sony models is that it only supports 65,000 colors while the iPhone supports as much as 16 million colors.

There is also a well known fact to many of us that a function in the iPhone is that of switching between portrait and landscape views automatically when it is been rotated while none of the Sony models feature this. The iphone has a proximity sensor that shuts the display screen when it is been held close to the ear, this feature is not present in the Sony phones.

What the Sony Ericsson has to offer can definitely not compete with the internal memory spacing. While the Sony phones have only 400 MB of space while the iPhone has options of as much as 8 GB and 16 GB. Although the internal memory of the Sony could be expanded when needed, using the MicroSD card the iPhone does not have this option.

Most Sony phones have a slide out QWERTY keyboard including a touch screen on the other hand; the iPhone only has a touch screen keyboard.

The digital camera on the Sony handsets is 3.2 megapixels while on the Apple iPhone it is only 2.0 megapixels. Both these handsets enjoy the option of GPS capabilities and Google Maps option on their phone, instant messaging capabilities are also enjoyed in these handsets. The option of push email through the Microsoft Exchange is also present in these phones. The Sony phones have battery replaceability option, MMS capabilities of sending and receiving photos and videos, video calling and conferencing, and the option of video capturing. The Sony models also have access to Microsoft Office documents that the iPhone cannot do.
