In todays life you cant think about living without a cell phone, everyone wants to keep in touch with their family and friends all the time. Before people used a phone to just make calls or SMS, but the new generations of phones have left everything behind now you can surf the net, MMS and even video call.
As the technology has improved, one has to take a lot more care about securing ones phone. Apple is trying hard to do their part in fixing security flaws which are reported to them by their customers. Hence its important on our part to make sure that we secure our iPhone so that it reduces the risk of losing personal information, or being hacked on the account that you have on web mail, or even loosing your online identity. And I am sure no one would want that to happen to their phone.
Passcode lock.
Most of the cell phones feature auto lock setting which locks only the phone screen after a certain time is passed. But the new feature called the passcode lock has taken the cell phone one step further, now one has to enter a passcode to access the phones home screen. This feature ensures that no one can get access to your phone making it better than the others and more secured than any other phone before. The best part is that you don't require to enter the passcode every time you unlock your screen, this way its more hassle free.
While receiving a text message if ‘show SMS preview' is enabled then you will be able to see the senders name and also read first line of the message even if the phone screen is yet locked. Furthermore if you want your privacy you can always disable this feature.
If your phone is stolen no need to worry about it anymore as the new improved security system erases the data from your phone after someone has attempt 10 times entering the wrong passcode. However be careful if you have children at home as they might enter some numbers and end up erasing data.
Safe usage of Wi-Fi is necessary
Make sure your Wi-Fi connections is properly secure, like you secure your laptops or desktop you must ensure your phone is secured too. To ensure this you must not connect to any unknown network.
Default password should be changed if your using jailbroken phone.
This tip is applicable for people who are using jailbroken phones. If your using one of this kind then you must change your root password to default password. However you might feel that theres no need for this as you have already secured your Wi-Fi connection, but please don't be a fool and do as mentioned above. As if you don't do this the risk of a malicious hacker getting accessed to your phone by using default password and you will not even know that your phone has been hacked.
