Review:
It seems Google ( The king of beasts ) wants to get back its share in the cellphone market. In recent years we saw Google bidding over wireless spectrums and now the smartphone. Anyway lets see how the super phone ( God phone ) fares !. Google's software, Android, has motorized the phone, which is slimmer than Iphone and very light in weight too. It may be purchased without a carrier as it is made available to consumers directly, unlocked, via the Web, and then ask multiple carriers to compete to sell service plans and subsidized versions of the hardware. The Nexus One can be bought on contract from T-Mobile immediately and will be available for Verizon in spring.
Software Features
This is the best Android powered phone to date. It's also the fastest and most stylish smartphone on the market today; solidly beating the iPhone in most ways. It has number of noteworthy features which gives pleasure to the user when using it. The display screen on this phone is simply implausible. There has yet to be any device out in the marketplace to date that looks as crusty and clear as the Nexus One.
Google’s Voice Keyboard is wonderful. It leaves the Voice Search application behind in the way, which was launched in 2009. Every text field in the device is now voice enabled. In most apps you can select the microphone button and talk into the phone, which then translates your speech to text. Finally, Google has added a lot of good graphical touches and rather than going the direction of the Motorola Droid that has hard edged corners, it took on the individuality of the IPhone head-on by creating a curvier device. In Your Face Steve!
An additional feature that was a smart move is the proximity sensor. As like the Iphone, when you place the handset to your ear it will automatically dim everything so you can't press buttons. When you take the phone away from your ear, all over again the screen will swiftly brighten.
Hardware features
The most noticeable hardware feature of the phone is the 480 x 800 OLED capacitive touch screen beating Iphone which has a 3.5-inch capacitive multitouch screen with 480x320 pixel resolution display. The provision of 1-GHz Snapdragon processor in comparison, of Iphone who provides 600MHz processor, is what makes it one of the fastest smartphone available in country.
The phone has a second microphone on the back enables noise cancellation to lessen background noise during phone dialogues. On the negative aspect, the phone’s primary microphone is located on the bottom of the device, often muting the voice when the phone is cradled between the neck and the shoulder.
Nexus One also swanks a 5-megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom, autofocus and LED flash equaling Motorola Droid who has same features but apparently beating Iphone in this sector which has a 3.15-megapixel camera with autofocus but no zoom or flash. But the fact remains that the Iphone offers pictures which are probably in the same class as the Nexus One and Droid. The Nexus One takes good pictures and clear video but, somehow at some point is not able to please users up to the extent of what was expected with its image quality. The camera protrudes a bit out of back of phone creating a slight problem for the users who keep their phones in the back pockets.
The sound quality of the speaker phone is quite good. It’s a lot thunderous than the iPhone, but the sound isn't totally crunchy. When testing with a number of headphones, the sound quality is on par with the iPhone. It’s ok to say that the sound quality of the device is average.
Cost
The Nexus One is priced at $529 when separately purchased or $179 with a two-year agreement with T-Mobile. Google also declared that Verizon (U.S.) and Vodafone (Europe) have signed on with the Nexus One and will be contributing similar hardware and service plan packages in the spring.
The biggest difference is caused by total cost of ownership actually, and Nexus One prevails there over iPhone and Droid because T-Mobile’s plans are less expensive than those offered by AT&T and Verizon, who carry the iPhone and Droid, respectively. But off course that arrives with a caution too - T-Mobile's 3G coverage isn't on par with that of Verizon, and even tracks that of the much criticized AT&T.
Thus it can be pretty much stated that Nexus One is warmly welcomed in the smartphone market and is quite successful in making its place and popping as a competitor for Iphone and Droid, but we will have to see whether it prolongs the present scenario till something better comes along!
The Nexus one has the advantage of being featured on the most valuable virtual space on the planet www.google.com . It seams Google is really backing up its baby to the top . Motorola Droid had a 100 Million dollar worth marketing backup. God bless Iphone! Oh by the way for more details have a look at http://www.google.com/phone/
