The Windows Mobile operating system is a groundbreaking technology, giving users the power to communicate easily with each other via voice calls, text messages or e-mails from any part of the world. This, on the other hand results in storing huge amounts of information and data on Windows Mobile-based devices and sometimes it becomes practically impossible to locate a certain file or folders from hundreds of applications without using an effective search tool.
SmartphoneFind is a powerful and quick search tool for Windows Mobile-based Smartphones that allows you to easily locate any file or folders like contacts, messages, e-mails, documents, tasks, appointments, calls from call history log and much more. It includes advanced search options and filter rules to confine your search so that you find exactly what you are looking for. It also supports wildcards and logical operators and quite a few third-party applications and even enables you to display your searched item in a calendar or task manager application.
I downloaded the trial version setup file on my desktop PC which is just 328KB in size and then installed the application on my device by using Microsoft ActiveSync.
Examining Smartphone Find
I opened the application by pressing the Windows key to access Start menu → Programs → SmartphoneFind which further guided me to its main window.
On the top of the window there is a search box where you can type the full name or first few letters of the name of the item you are looking for. Then I selected the type of item by pressing the right and left keys of my direction pad. This helped me confine my search and I selected the ‘All items' option to look on entire phone and storage card memory.
I could also find an exact match of the string case by marking on the ‘Match case' checkbox and could also match the whole word by marking on ‘Match whole word' option.
I pressed the ‘Go' button to begin my search that started displaying all the results associated with the item I was looking for and I could stop the search any time by pressing the ‘Stop' button.
I found that I could easily browse through the list of searched items and was able to select my desired entry by using the direction pad. I could even export it to a calendar or task manager application by selecting the ‘Appointment' option from the ‘Menu' button. The Menu key also included customization options where you will find more advance options that can be used to refine your search even further.
Here I could also customize the settings by selecting the ‘Customize' option that allowed me to configure the application according to my comfort.
Final Verdict
SmartphoneFind is an easy-to-use and highly responsive search tool for Windows Mobile Smartphones that allows you to quickly locate a file, folder or any application on your device.
I have a 2GB card installed on my Smartphone that stores my favorite audio/video files along with hundreds of applications and documents. It is such a mess that it was nearly impossible, or very time consuming in the least to find a specific files when needed, but after installing SmartphoneFind I could easily trace any file on my phone regardless of its location.
I could also limit and confine my search using the programs advanced filters and the best part is that the application instantly displays all the associated results that can be opened immediately. I give this application 8 out of 10 points for its quick and easy installation, simplicity, speed, convenience and usability.
